Puppy questions

My coworker had a French bulldog and a mini labradoodle. She thinks that the bulldog is pregnant by the labradoodle. So she’s taking the dog to the vet to get it checked out and fixed if she’s not prego. Well I want one of the puppies and it’s been a very long time since I’ve had a puppy around me. I’m 24 and haven’t had a puppy since I was like 10-12ish in age. So I feel like my memory of potty training is fuzzy. Which is easier to potty train a male dog or a female dog? Also do y’all have any pro’s and con’s for either gender? Especially for the breeds this pup will be mixed with. I have two boys. One is 3 1/2 and the other son is 15 months old. We’ve been wanting a pet for a while,but just haven’t taken the plunge yet. We went to our local animal shelter and tried for the longest time to get a puppy/dog but the people at our local shelter are terrible. They truly don’t care about the animals in their care. Just how much money we can have.
