First poop after delivery

I gave birth on 02/22 and I haven’t pooped yet. I’ve been dreading it because the pressure on my butt is already painful.

I’m in the NICU with my daughter and I don’t even think about myself all day but I woke up in the middle of the night like I had to go NOW. My stomach was cramping and I was getting sweaty, then as soon as I sat on the toilet, it all went away and nothing happened.

I tried pushing and could feel I had to go but pushing didn’t do much and now my back hurts from trying to push.

What can I do to help with constipation? Can they even give me things like a laxative in the NICU area?

This is my first baby.
