Do I need a bassinet?

We are living with the inlaws when the baby is born while we build our house, so we will be here for some time. I originally had the halo bassinet on my registry, but now I’m wondering if we should just get a crib and put her in there from day 1. Is that ok to do? Or is it safer for newborns to be in a bassinet? Either way she will be next to the bed.

If you have room in your bedroom for a crib it’s totally safe to put them in there right away. Some babies prefer a bassinet because it’s smaller and “cozier” but it’s not really more safe than a crib.

Both are equally safe for right after birth. A crib would be better long term if you have the room

If I had to do it over, I would have gotten a pack n play with the bassinet feature. We’ve been lucky to borrow a pack n play when we’ve traveled. It would have been handy. But, using a crib straight away is fine.

A crib is fine although a bassinet would be a lot easier since u can move it from room to room and have it right next to ur bed.

It's ok to do the crib. We used a bassinet  because we don't have room for a crib. It was also nice to not have to get out of bed to lay the baby down
