Did you get your cervical check for dilation?

My doctor wants to start checking if I am dilated in two weeks and I was thinking of declining it. I heard that it doesn't really tell you anything and can cause an infection. Just curious if most people are getting checked or not.

I’ve been checked throughout my pregnancy because for a while it looked like I was in preterm labor. I’m 36-2 now and I’ll be checked weekly starting at 37-2! I know it literally means nothing but it gives me something to look forward to haha

I got mine checked just because I’m getting induced this Friday and we wanted to see if I am dilated yet.

With my first two kiddos i did, just because i thought I had to i guess but this time im not! It doesn't do anything or change anything its pretty much just for their records and its totally uncomfortable !
Even during labor i only want to be assessed at the beginning and when i feel like i need to push due to my previous midwife getting my dilation wrong and telling me to start pushing when i was only 4cm 🤦‍♀️ haha not so much fun

It can be indicative of which method of induction will take best. For instance, if you’re 3 or 4 cm, pitocin would be a good option for you. Otherwise you are right it is no indication that labor is imminent.

i had mine checked today (36w4d), and i really think i’m just going to decline them until i feel like i’m in labor. it hurt like hell and all for what felt like no reason 😂. i’m not dilated at all, nor did i think i would be. i’ll let them check me when my body and i feel that it’s necessary lol.

Only got checked once. At 38 weeks. I have c-sections so there isn’t a point. I just wanted to know if I was going to make it to 40 weeks which is essentially when my c-section is.

It can cause infection you get ones after water breaks during labor. I got checked at 37 weeks but am declining until 40 weeks (if i make it that far) they'll want to do one when you go into labor to see how far you are
