And here we go! 🌈
So my story starts out that I met my husband in November of 2000. I was 17 & he was 21. We fell totally in love and are still head over heels for each other after almost 20 years together. We got married in April 2002 & had a beautiful baby boy in February 2003 who has grown to become one of the most awesome, super smart, kind hearted gentleman that we have had the pleasure to raise to date.
When our son was about 4 we started trying for another baby but were unsuccessful & heartbroken after 4 miscarriages, the last miscarriage being about 4 years ago. We went to a fertility specialist for a while to no avail, so we decided that since we were getting older, we would just carry on thinking we would end up retiring & traveling the world one day after our son graduates & goes to college (which will be in May 2021).
Since we were getting up there in age (I’m 37 as of March 3 & my husband will be 41 in June) we decided we would tackle a better lifestyle & try out the Keto diet. In the beginning it was tough because you find out how many things have soooo much sugar in it. And trying to quit bread, pasta & even certain fruits & vegetables, it does get a bit difficult trying to figure out what to cook for dinner every night (especially for growing men lol).
Four months into the diet & finally getting the hang of things, I had finally lost almost 25 pounds & my husband had lost about the same, maybe a little more. We were ecstatic at how well this diet had worked considering we had tried other forms of dieting as well.
Then out of the blue in June of 2019, I came to work thinking something was wrong with me because I felt so sick & my boobs were hurting so bad. I thought to myself, no, it couldn’t be. I didn’t think I could get pregnant because well, I’m no spring chicken anymore lol, so I ran to the store & bought a couple of pregnancy tests & BAM! What do ya know, I was pregnant.
I called my husband and told him what was going on & he was very happy however I was totally scared. We decided that we would just carry on & see how things turned out & kept it to ourselves because we didn’t want to set ourselves up for disappointment nor any of the family.
After having 4 other previous miscarriages & not being able to carry past the first trimester on all of them, we finally hit the first trimester without any problems. We then decided we would tell everyone. Of course everyone was excited & understood why we kept it to ourselves. Now we are 9 months in with a baby girl on the way who we are naming Delilah (which means love). We are officially going to have our rainbow baby 🌈 & of all days, she will be born on my birthday this coming Tuesday March 3rd!
I wanted to share my story because I know there are plenty of other couples who have been or are in those shoes we walked in & wanted to let y’all know that there is a possible silver lining at the end of the tunnel. I also want to add that I really think Keto had a hand in all of it. So don’t give up because you never really know what God has in store for all of us & remember that it’s not that God will not give us more than we can handle, but He will definitely help us handle what we are given.
