Ladies, what do you think?

Question

I was planning to go on a holiday only for a week and it's 4 hrs away from home. Baby will be 3 weeks old and obviously be coming with us.  We will be driving. Accomodations have been paid for. Mother in law is telling my husband that it's a bad idea and not to do it. With everything that is happening eg. Coronavirus should we not go or is it ok? Is 3 weeks to young? What are your thoughts? We live in Australia, if that helps.

That does seem a little young to me, personally. At that point I was trying to figure everything out (feeding, sleeping) and being away from home would make that difficult. I would just be ready to abort mission and change plans.

Short day trips are the way to go for the time being. Like someone else mentioned, it’s a good idea to keep Bub home for the time being to help establish a routine. You’ve also got to recover yourself and try not to push yourself.
I wouldn’t be concerned about the Coronavirus in Australia. I would be more concerned about Whooping Cough, the Flu and this mad viral throat infection that’s going around. Your Bub hasn’t had all the important vaccinations yet and it’s best to play it safe than be sorry.

Personally I would wait after immunisations. But also if you go, the baby will be in your care and you can monitor if anything goes wrong! Just know where the hospital or drs are if need be. Overall if you’re healed up and all good to go, just go. 
I remember when we went to Phillip island one time & we got told by my partners mum that we shouldn’t take OUR child with us & he would have been 4 months 🙄 . Yes there’s a difference between 3 weeks and 4 weeks but don’t let anyone else tell you what to do, if you feel okay with it.

I took my son up to my parents cabin at 4 weeks. It was easy and I’m glad I did.

I don’t think it will be as enjoyable or as relaxing as you might hope. Baby might not sleep, your mental health might be all over the place, no one will be sleeping. But it could be fine, who knows. You’re close enough to drive home if need be and a baby that small would also be easy in that you don’t need to worry about entertaining them, they just kind of tag along. I probably wouldn’t do it but I don’t think it necessarily would be horrible if you tried.

3 weeks old is unpredictable. They could every 2 hours, or 4, changes daily. My son is 6 weeks now, and I personally couldn’t imagine more than an hour in the car

I personally wouldn’t but that’s just me I’m a home person. 
If you want to go go just remember your going to have to take a lot with you, and stop every 30 mins to get baby out the car seat
