Teething symptoms AFTER teething?

My 2.5 has all of his baby teeth. He had a dentist appointment two months ago and she confirmed his two years molars were all in. The past week, two weeks or so he’s oddly been showing teething symptoms. Cranky, droooly, hands always in the back of his mouth. For the record he’s always cranky, this has just been significantly worse, and he is fighting a cold with a runny nose and a cough.

Someone (of no medical background) said it sounds like he might have an ear infection. He’s not showing any other ear infection signs. Anyone have this happen to their LO before and could provide insight? If it gets worse I’ll definitely give the Dr a call, but they usually tell me it’s something viral and they can’t do anything. Thanks!
