When someone says “white on white violence” or “Asian on Asian violence” or “black on black violence”? I heard someone yell white on white violence before and it was because two white friends were messing around hitting each other and he wanted it to seem as if both White people are harming each other for being white which sounds stupid to me because who tries to harm someone of their same kind just because?

Sounds like someone yelled "white on white violence" as a joke. Not that it is funny or okay to do. But they were probably making an ironic joke at how when black people get into fights or harm each other, people dismiss it by saying it is "black on black violence". Racists have a history in modern times of dismissing it that way. Black people are victims of violence n a daily basis simply because they are black, and racists like to dismiss that by making claims that it is black people harming other black people.

I don't agree with this sort of terminology because "black on black" violence/crime is used to kind of discount drug/gang activity where I live. If it includes a non black person its suddenly more important and taken more seriously so I don't like when race is pointed out, only due to people using it to care less. I live in a pretty racist area though.

The only one I ever hear is black on black violence. It always shocks me when people parrot Reagan era propaganda in 2020.

The only times I've heard it was in a sarcastic or joking way. I cant recall ever hearing it in a news story.

I think for the purpose of recording incidents for statistical purposes it could be important... that said, I don’t think I have ever heard anyone refer to a crime happening in real time as ‘___ on ___ violence’ because that seems weird. I have heard it in the news, but less on an individual incident level and more in broader statistical conversations
