Successful vaginal birth after C section?

My OB told me that since my pregnancy wasn’t high risk and that if the baby isn’t too big by 28 weeks I can opt to have a vaginal birth instead of a C section. They said it will basically be a trial of labor to try and have the baby vaginally and like if I can’t have the baby vaginally then they will give me another c section. My daughter was a C section and I really want to try to have my son vaginally but I’m a little scared. Has anyone one had a successful vaginal birth after a C section?

I had an emergency c-section in 2015 and a successful VBAC in 2017 .. I am definitely going for a 2VBAC. . Recovery is so much easier after a vaginal birth for me .

Can u still have vbac if ur bp is usually high during pregnancy ? mine was emergency c section with my first daughter v high bp n preeclampsia at the end of 7 months pregnancy they had to keep her in incubator for 2 months n then 2nd baby I conceived early after 10 months of c section now again after 10 months I conceived couldn’t keep gap between but was wondering if it’s worth having c section if my bp is high usually during pregnancy n I’m on asprin till my delivery date any comments 🤰🏻👶🏻

I think it’s completely based off why you had your first csection to begin with, if it was an emergency c section and the factors on why should greatly weigh out wether or not it is a safe option to give birth vaginally. But if your doctor is saying that as long as your pregnancy is healthy, than trust that ! And trust yourself. A ton of women have successfully given vaginal birth post cesarean birth ! Most of the time, you can do it and it is completely safe. Just look more into it, find forums on women’s stories who have been successful, watch any videos on YouTube find a book. I do remember reading in ina mays book that she helped many women have successful vbacs after they had previously had csections! I hope you look into it and give yourself that option ! Good luck xx

I’m in a similar boat.  Had my daughter vaginally, then son was an emergency c-section, now I’m torn?  My recovery from the c-section seemed easier and I only had a 2nd degree tear with my vaginal, but recovery seemed harder?  I guess it all depends on baby’s position.

I also had a csection almost 3 years ago, and my doc supports vbacs and
Says if I want to try for one, then that’s what we would do, but my success rate is only 50%, so I would say the biggest factor is why did you have a csection the first time, I’m going to choose a repeat csection.

I’m also curious on this topic! I had my son via emergency c section 9 years ago, my ob said I could deliver vaginally this time around. I always assumed I had to deliver c section again but now I really want to try vaginally. I’m wondering others stories on this. Good luck 💕

I personally chose c section for my current pregnancy had a emergency one for my first but for me the benefits outweigh the risks but I’ve known lots of people including a lot of family members that have had normal vaginal births second time and all been good if I didn’t have a high risk pregnancy I probably would’ve tried vaginal birth
