Dilated Kidney in Baby Girls?

At my 32 week ultrasound they found my baby had mild dilation in the right kidney (5.7mm). Doctors weren’t very concerned and said it usually resolves itself, however we were trying to keep the sex a surprise and I’ve heard this is much more common in boys and I feel as though this has ruined the surprise we’ve waited so long for 😥 Did anyone have a girl who had this? Just trying to keep the surprise alive.

I’m 34+3 and having a girl. At the 20 week ultrasound, they noticed dilation with her kidney.
When we found out the gender, the nurse said that this kidney thing was 3x more common in boys and I was thinking the same thing - I’m having a boy. Turns out we’re just having a very small percentage baby the other way!

My girl had dilated kidneys at her anatomy scan. I was worried as well because I kept reading it was more common in boys. But my doctor kept saying not to stress because it would resolve itself and it did! They just have to mature a little more. By 36 weeks she was completely normal. And even if at birth they’re still dilated, it could resolve after she wets a few diapers. Don’t worry mama ! ♥️
