Coronavirus in second trimester?

Hi everyone! So with this coronavirus going around and not going away, i just wanted to know if anyone knew what it meant for pregnant women? How would we be affected if we contracted it? Most young people only have mild symptoms, but what if youre pregnant? Im 4 months pregnant and would appreciate it if anyone knew anything, maybe from the obgyn.

There isn’t enough information yet about how it affects pregnant woman, but so far they are saying someone who is pregnant isn’t more likely to have a severe case. It also seems like women who were affected with the virus didn’t pass it on to the baby and the babies were symptom free when they were born.
Just take all the precautions you can. I’m 22 weeks pregnant so I understand your concern.

people are risk for complications from the coronavirus (which is essentially a cold) are mostly elderly with preexisting conditions. you'll be fine lol

They don’t know yet. Initial research was only with a small group and later in pregnancy. There was just an article about this in the New York Times today.

I also think there is yet insufficient information. Pregnancy affect the immune system, which in turn can make us more likely to catch a virus- hence the advice to have a flu jab. I started looking into medical literature but there is no information yet on whether it is transmitted to the baby and implications. It’s too early I guess. But it does worry me too.

I’m really worried. I looked at the research about sars as it’s the closest to coronavirus and it doesn’t sound good.

There’s not enough information on pregnant women and they still don’t know if it’s only transmitted thru droplets which is the assumption but there were cases in China where mom and baby tested positive
Hand washing is key, stay away from people who are sick and if you feel unwell stay home.
