Hiding money from husband

Ok so I’m a stay at home wife, I was in a car accident 2 years ago and I’m finally getting a check from the insurance company, I am getting about 9k and I was thinking to just tell my husband that I got 4K and put the rest into saving or for a rainy day. Let me just say that my husband is really bad with money and so if I tell him how much I got he will most likely just go blow it on something that we don’t need. We live paycheck to paycheck as is and even though he gives me money, he ends up taking it back after a few days if I don’t use it. It’s really annoying. I’m not trying to hid it to just go use it on myself, I just want to use it when we really need it or save up for a house or something. My husband doesn’t think about the future so I have to. But I still feel a bit guilty for not telling him. Is it wrong of me to keep this a secret?

Ps. I’m not blaming my husband for our money problems, I have no problem working, my husband just doesn’t want me to work, but stay home with our 8 month old.
