Induction for non medical reasons

Has anybody been induced just bc they want to be. I don't want to do anything bad for the baby I read it's best not to, but I have no family anywhere near me where I live right now and I really don't want to give birth without anyone and they couldn't make it in time if it's unexpected when I give birth. I really wanna see if my doctor will give me an induction date then they can come down to be there. Opinions?
