Not walking..?

Question

My son is now 14 months and still now walking. He walks while holding onto furniture but that’s it, he doesn’t stand in his own yet and his balance while standing isn’t the best.. I was a first time mom with him so I made the mistake of giving him a walker the kind that he sits in.. and now he’s 100% dependable on it, when he try assisted walking with him he walks with his upper body first then his feet follow so if I were to let him go he would fall on his face.. any suggestions on how to help him?

My son was like this until just recently. What we did was let him hold our finger and just walked around with him for a long time every day. It takes a while but they eventually start walking short distances and then eventually become completely independent.

Your baby will walk when he’s ready. We used walker up until she could walk and even after but now she hates it. Time will come for you guys

My son had a walker and walked independently at 10 months old so don’t beat yourself up about that! If you are concerned talk to your doctor but babies walk at different ages!

I would definitely stop using the walker etc. and let him have more freedom to HAVE to do it independently. It’s okay if they fall, they’re made to bounce pretty well 😝
When he wants to do it badly enough he will! All babies have different timelines and unless his pediatrician is concerned that he isn’t fully independently walking then don’t stress it mama! Baby will get there and I almost guarantee once he starts he won’t sit still ever again 🤪 my son has just gotten to the point of feeling more independent with walking. He literally walked before he crawled though (not early or anything he just never crawled right and would scoot across the floor and it made me SO nervous but he’s fine!)

My son didn’t start walking until 14 months. One day he just took off walking across the room at 14 months I was so surprised. He will be 15 months on the 25th and he wants to walk everywhere. Just be patient they do it when they want and are ready to.

My son isn’t quite walking either. My pediatrician said not to rush them, and that she didn’t start walking until she was 18 months

Does he have any shoes? Older siblings? Daycare? 
My son is almost 14 months old. I never put shoes on my babies until they walk but he is being a stubborn butt so I got him a little pair. We put them on him everyday now. He also has two older sisters who carry him everywhere, he thinks crawling can be his fastest mode of transportation but I just put him on the floor and let him crawl around. He will eventually figure out walking is faster. I rarely carry him anywhere anymore. And last, daycare. He has finally been moved to the 1 to 2 year old room, most kids are walking so he is now finding more and more motivation. 
I think once they hit 15 or 16 months they may recommend physical therapy depending on what is going on. My middle kid was also 16 months but she was just lazy

There is nothing wrong with the walker but I would recommend taking it away at this point and just working with him in walking. Some kids are quick at it some take their time. But personally as a mom of 3 I would recommended taking the waker at this point
