Two baby showers ?

My mom made my baby shower aug 9. My husband told my mom that I want a jack and Jill at the house on a Sunday so obviously she planned a girls only Saturday baby shower at a venue. 
My husband is a first gen immigrant  ( his parents dont even live her ) and really wanted some of his close friends and Malle cousins (he doesn’t have female cousins here ) there and we wanted some Brazilian culture and decorations since our child is 1/2 Brazilian. This isn’t happening anymore obviously.
Would it be bad to plan a more low key second shower so my husband and I can have what we want ? Or is that too rude ?

I don't think it's rude. What's rude is your mother planning something you obviously didn't want. Your husband wants to be able to celebrate the baby with his friends too, so you should definitely plan an event for him and his friends/family and whomever you'd like to invite.

I had two baby showers, my mil threw one for me with her friends and there family their and my sister threw one for me with my friends and our family(it was a lot smaller then my mil's).

My cousins wife had three baby showers 😂 she had one with her family in Wisconsin, one with my cousins family in NJ and one with her friends in MD.

It is YOUR pregnancy and YOUR time. You have PLENTY of time to have a change of plans. If you want to do what your husband wants DO it. It is about YOU and your mother should understand. If not then tell your mom you are taking over the baby shower planning! I am SURE she will come around. You are giving her a grandchild! Your husband culture is important to him!
