Epidural or not?

I’m 33 weeks, having my first baby due 28/04. 
I still don’t know whether to have the epidural or not. Both scares me, I don’t like needles and I don’t want to have a longer labour. But I am also scared of the pain with no epidural. What are your thoughts? I know everyone says once you see your baby you will forget the pain!
Anyone else in fear... ? 😥

I’m 100% epidural. Our bodies were made for it...but not with the way we use and handle our bodies these days.
However, that’s just my own feelings :) We each should do what’s right for ourselves! 💖😍🥰

Epidural will not slow down labor in fact it’s shown to help women progress because they’re able to relax and rest.

I think you should just see how things go.  Nothing is like what you imagine; sometimes it’s better, sometimes it’s worse.  It’s best to be flexible. If you have a preference, that can help your support person advocate in a certain way for you, if need be; but it’s also ok to make the decision based on how your labour is going in the moment.

I’m trying it without one, but I’m not totally against it if I need it. The epidural doesn’t work for everyone, first of all. Second, it’s best to do birth in medicated if possible according to the duolas and midwives I’ve spoken to. Not to be that person, but our bodies were made for this, and we’re all capable of giving birth naturally. If that’s what’s best for my baby, I’m giving it my best shot.

Im terrified of needles and I’m also terrified of pain. I’m going in with an open mind. If things get to a point where I feel like I absolutely need one, I’m not against getting it. And if I feel like I’m managing okay with out it then I will have a natural birth. I’m leaving it as an “in the moment” decision.

I was worried about the needle with my first but it wasn’t bad at all, Just pressure. I don’t even really remember it just the epidural is amazing

Oooof I give moms who don’t get one so much credit. They’re life savers lmao 😅
Honestly at the point of getting one you’re in so much pain & the contractions hurt 10x worse than getting the epidural. I don’t remember the epidural hurting either time I got it!

I had a epidural with my first. 
I'm like you I was terrified of them sticking the needle in my back, but honestly it didn't hurt at all I had a burning sensation run down my leg for like 30 seconds then it was gone!
It definitely did not make my labor last longer either I got the epidural at 7cm and within 30-45 minutes I was at 10cm and pushing!
I honestly wouldn't overthink just do what feels best for you when you go into labor.

To be honest you never even see the needle and it is over on like one second. Personally, I think it's worth it to feel a little sting and pressure for second to have some relief the rest of the labor. The epideral didn't work perfectly for me and I definitely still felt pain, but I still think it was 100 percent worth it for me.
