Paying rent in state of emergency ?!

When there is a state of emergency such as corona virus and people aren’t able to go to work, how does paying rent work??! Lol I’m sorry I’m ignorant, I have to travel for work but I’m getting more and more nervous but it needs to be done. I’m wondering when things get bad are people still expected to make payments ?

Yes, you will still be responsible for payments. In the event, situations worsen, some landlords or lenders may make exceptions. However, I wouldn't expect that to happen if your in the US.

Italy is saying no payments on mortgages at the moment, so it’s possible if it becomes bad enough that’s an option here but I honestly doubt that.
If you’re talking about not being able to go to work thus making no money legislation is working on that, so that individuals are still paid.

Yes. We had a state of emergency where I live for 8 days in January (nothing to do with Coronavirus) and everyone still has to pay rent/mortgage and any other bills. A lot of people like government employees or people who worked for national companies still got paid for their missed days of work. Others were allowed to use their vacation pay/sick days. Some people still went without pay and small local businesses like restaurants suffered big time.
