Painful sex during ovulation.

Yesterday I had ovulation pains coming from my right ovary. I know I was ovulating because I took a OPK test 2 days before and was at my peak. I had sex during the ovulation pains and it hurt so bad. Is this normal? Also does it help to BD during ovulation pains?
