Abscess from mastitis 😨

For the past three weeks (nearly) I have been on antibiotics for what my doctor thought was mastitis. It wasn't clearing up and she sent me for an ultrasound to see if it was an abscess. I had my ultrasound yesterday and they confirmed it was an abscess. They drained it for me then and there, which was a major relief as the next option was surgery. They gave me a local anesthetic and drained 40ml out of it. Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so, how long after it was drained did things get back to normal? I am currently on my third round of antibiotics.
