Caretaking after birth in Covid-19 times

Brittany

I’m wondering how you all are planning on sharing care of a newborn now?

Before Covid-19, we were going to have my MIL and my parents take turns helping us with our newborn and our 2.5yo.

Now my parents will not be visiting until this is all over (they are about 5 hours away). And my MIL is a nurse who cannot self isolate and is in one of the highest risk categories. We don’t feel comfortable having her near the newborn and aren’t sure if she should be with our 2.5yo because they can easily be carriers.

We don’t have family other than that around her except for grandparents in their 80s who are at such a high risk from us I’m not sure we could protect them.

Are any of you in the same position? Are you and your partner just going to grin and bare it alone? Will you have trusted friends help?

Man, this is not what I pictured our life would be when we got pregnant again.
