do you take meds for anxiety?

my doctor put me on buspirone and I'm wondering if anyone else takes it? does it work well? any side effects? how long does it take to kick in?

I took it a year ago... did nothing. It was like I was taking a sugar pill. I’m in bupropion xl now and Xanax (If needed).

I have been on anxiety meds since 2013 I take 200mg Zoloft and 5mg of bisoprolol to help my heart palpitations.

I took buspirone for or a short time but I believe it made me extremely shaky. I take bupropion (wellbutrin) now and it's the one thing that actually helps.

I have taken anxiety meds for roughly 4 years now and it has completely changed my life along with therapy; i’m finally able to stop missing out on opportunities and cope with anxiety that has crippled my life since childhood. Medication isn’t always for everyone i’d see a psychiatrist and talk to them and get the best possible fit. 
It usually takes around 4wks to ‘kick in’ although you’ll most likely notice a difference around 1-2wks

I took Effexor (venlafaxine) for 3 years but recently changed to Zoloft. My Effexor was giving me sweats all the time every day and I got tired of it. I am also on lamictal (anti-seizure & for bipolar disorder). I have to say that this combination has made me feel that my life is worth living.

Unfortunately, no. I get really bad anxiety during college semesters, and it’s often gotten to the point where I have emotional breakdowns on a daily basis. I can sometimes cope with it, though, until things pass, but I had to see a counselor last semester because I was breaking down so much. Even though I’m a legal adult (who lives with my parents until I have the means to be independent), my parents (especially my mom) almost throw a fit whenever I mention talking to my primary doctor about medication for it. 
My SO takes medication for his anxiety when he needs to. As I recall, he hasn’t needed it in a while.

I take lexapro. It’s for anxiety and depression. It has really helped me. I’ve been on it for almost 2 years.
