Mother in law laid off- now wants to watch my kids full time

I have a 20 month old and a 4 month old. About 2 months ago, my husband and I decided I would stay home for a little while, because the cost of daycare would be most of my paycheck and I really just wanted to stay home. Before that, my mil watched my son twice a week, and he went to daycare three times a week.

So my mil got laid off because of the coronavirus, and my mil decided that I should go back to work, and she will watch both kids full time.

My husband thinks it’s a great idea, we can have that second income without paying for daycare.

I am so sad because I really wanted to stay home with my kids for a little bit. Not only that, but with my MIL watching my son twice a week, there was a huge power struggle. Constantly doing things I didn’t want done. Feeding him shit I didn’t want him to eat, and she started to think she was his mother. Like on the weekends she HAD to see him, and she would come over, and I couldn’t feed him, change him, and if he cried she would go running to him, and grab him from my arms. Things were getting reallly bad, she was constantly crossing boundaries and we were on the verge of a huge fight. I can’t imagine how she would be acting if she watched both my kids every single day, she would definitely think she is their mother at that point. She is also kind of crazy, always fighting with people. Fighting with her husband, fighting with her daughters, fighting with the cashier at the grocery store.

Idk what to do, my husband and I figured out financially it is ok for me to be home, but now that his mother is offering to watch the kids for free, all of a sudden we need that second income

I feel like no one is taking my feelings or what I want into consideration

I should add that since she has been laid off, she decided she’s not going to look for a job after this is all over, she is retiring
