Cramping in pregnancy

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant following a miscarriage. I had a D&C on February 6th, had a regular period about a month later and we started trying this month. I am due to start my period in 3 days and want so badly to be pregnant. Did anyone have any light cramping just before their period was due, yet actually be pregnant? I have been thinking about taking a test, but don’t want to waste the money. I know if it is negative I will bring more, so I am just trying to wait 3 more days to see if my period arrives. I’m just looking for some others experiences because 3 days feels like an eternity right now 😂
