What should I put on before applying foundation?

I have very dry skin, so when I put my foundation on, it tends to look very dry and cakey.  I also have acne-prone skin. What should i apply before foundation? Primer? Moisturizer? I would appreciate any recommendations.

Make sure your using an oil free moisturizer and or something that's not going to clog your pores. Also a moisturizing primer will work as well, try to stay away from anything that matting.

Moisturizer let it sink in a little bit before you put on your foundation you could also try a hydrating primer. I personally love the it cosmetics confidence in a gel lotion or the confidence in a cream both work great for me and i also have very dry skin

I have really dry skin. I have to clean with a moisturizing cleaner then a toner to clean off dead skin then I put lotion for dry skin then primer. I use Mac foundation it’s the only one that looks semi decent.

Also Is your foundation made for dry skin? There's foundation for dry, oily or normal skin.

You can get a moisturizing primer since you have dry skin. Makes a world of difference in my foundation

The ordinary hyaluronic acid , elf moisturizer and nyx hydrating jelly primer is what I use before applying make up and I have the same skin type . Also I only powder my eyes and t zone ! Powder accentuates texture and dryness !
