How much independent play does your child do on average a day?

How much independent play do they do where you may be in the vicinity but not directly interacting with them. What sorts of things do they do during independent play? What toys do they gravitate towards?

I feel like my son is playing with his toys constantly. He goes to his room and will drag out trucks and his toy story dolls and play for a long time. He’ll get bored and grab a book and point out pictures and objects. We will dump all his blocks out for him to play too.

We don’t do it as a full block but here and there throughout the day probably about 20 mins max at a time before he’ll come to get my attention. I’d say probably adding up to around an hour or more over the day as I’m doing things like food prep or doing my own thing sometimes.
