Fresh transfer or wait for FET?

Question

Hello IVF preggos:) can I take advantage of your experiences? We are trying to make this decision. We went through Arc for financing so we are covered for 1 fresh and 1 frozen transfer or 2 frozen. We are doing PGS testing due to my age (39), but if we have a few good quality embryos by day 5-7 after retrieval should we go for it? I don't want another Miscarraige, but the thought of waiting until end of January for FET is killing me...Thanks in advance for your input!

I would personally wait and see how your body has responded to meds and what your dr thinks. It can be worth waiting if you're hyper stimulating or of the meds are making you really crook. But I don't think it'll matter when you do it in terms of risk of miscarriage. I'm sorry you've been through this already and I hope you don't ever have to again!! But I think the way your body responds to everything will give you an idea on whether to wait or not because if you're hyper stimulating the embryo may be less likely to stick. That was the advice given to me as we went into it all.

If you are even close to over stimulating I would wait.  We were right in the edge so my doctor made the call to freeze all and let my body cool off.  I'm so glad we did.  I was miserable for a week after retrieval.

I know the wait is hard but I would recommend it anyways. My body rejected the fresh transfer due to hyper stimulation. Plus I've had two miscarriages and if waiting would lessen your chances of miscarrying then it's worth the wait rather than going through that emotional toll again.

I'm all for FET. My dr really was in favor of it, especially because of how my body responded to the medications and elevations of certain hormones. It was hard to wait, but worth it when it works!

There are other benefits to waiting other than a reduced risk of miscarriage because of testing!  Your body is more relaxed and ready to accept an embryo after a few weeks off stimms!  You have to do what feels right for you guys though:) good luck!
