Shellac nails?

What do you guys think about using shellac nail polish? I'm assuming that part is fine but I usually soak my nails in acetone to remove them. I just want to make sure its safe for the baby. Any opinions would be great!

FL licensed nail tech here...it's all in the manner you soak them off. If you're entire finger tip is in acetone don't do it. You should be using a cotton ball soaked in acetone just on the nail plate itself. Very little gets absorbed into your body. I typically shellac my nails and just skipped the first trimester. Make sure you get your nails done somewhere reputable that follows guidelines on ventilation. The fumes are more dangerous than what gets absorbed into your skin. If it makes you feel better to peel off the shellac go for it, but it can damage your nail plate (baby is more important though 😉) Happy and healthy pregnancy everyone! Xo

I was wondering same thing. You can do the acetone to soak...I've read about that somewhere...NOT to do...but the one I use at home easily peals off without damaging my nails. Maybe I have oiler nail beds...I dunno but my skin is typically combo-dry. I don't know if it makes a difference. I'm really wanting to shellac my nails tho. :)
