Leftover tissue?

Question

I’ve been consistently taking HPTs since my d and c January 31. I have yet to get a negative pregnancy tests and is officially 2 months today.  Has anyone ever heard of leftover tissue thag could continue to cause repetitive rise and drop of HCG? Example.

This bottoms test is this mornings test. And then

This bottom test is this afternoon.  That’s quite a bit darker than this mornings test... but this isn’t the first time it appeared to get darker and the lighter.
Thoughts?

This happened to me after my d&c for a missed miscarriage in December. I was having excessive bleeding with really bad cramps. I was pretty sure I was going to need another d&c because my levels were going down but they would climb a little bit and then come back down and then climb a little bit. Fortunately my second cycle after the d&c, I passed this large ball of tissue...gross. My cramping went away and my cycles have been normal since. From what I understand, most people do need another d&c if there is retained tissue. ￼

It’s took me about 8 weeks to get a negative pregnancy and my doctor told me it could be anywhere from 3-6 months. It just depends on how much HCG you had and how long your body takes to expel it. Just be patient: I know it’s easier said then done.

I’d ask for some blood work and go from there. 
That being said, I was 17 weeks when I lost my son. I had an induced vaginal delivery. I went to the walk in clinic with what I thought was a UTI 3 weeks later and the HCG urine tests were already negative (so was my urine for a uti). Ended up in the ER getting an emergency D&C later that afternoon (big thanks to the walk in dr who could’ve saved my life because I would’ve kept ignoring it if he didn’t make me go over to the ER). So, having retained placenta did not cause leftover hormones, in my case.
