i am suppose to be getting my iud soon and have been nervous and most of the research ive done is negative .. but what happened when you got yours inserted ? how was the pain afterwards ? how long did you wait to have sex after getting your iud inserted ? and how did sex/masturbation feel after getting your iud inserted ?
* also im getting the mirena i believe, if not then the kyleena i forget what my doctor said haha but theyre basically the same thing

I got the paraguard iud several years ago. The insertion was painful even when I took pain medicine to help(didn't take it early enough) and the rest of the day was painful. After that it was ok. Guys don't feel it during sex. Don't be alarmed if you can't find the wires they tend to cut them very short.

I had skyla and switched over to Kyleena. Insertion the first time wasn’t bad it was a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. The second time around it was a little more painful but again nothing I couldn’t handle. But like I said everyone has a different pain tolerance. As far as afterwards there was slight cramping with the first one and I literally was on and off my period for 3 months straight I’d be bleeding for 2 weeks and off for 2 days then bleeding again it was pretty heavy but after that my body adjusted pretty well to it and I went back to my regular cycles. With the second time around my body was used to it so I just had a regular cycle and no cramping after the insertion despite it being more painful to insert - I do have light periods with Kyleena though sometimes I even skip a month and even when I do get a period it’s barely even anything I literally barely even have to wear a liner. When you go in just try to stay as relaxed as possible and it’ll go by so quick mine was over in less than 3 minutes. Hope this helps if you have any questions feel free to ask ! :)

I’ve had the mirena twice, but I’ve also had children. The first time, I got a little light headed and cramped afterwards with a little spotting. The second time, just cramping. 
Now, one thing I’ve noticed that my doctor does that a lot do not, is insert it while I am on my period. It makes a world of difference with the break through spotting. 
My rooomate got an iud and she had issue after issue either hers. She got the mirena, has never been pregnant, and her doctor did not wait until she was on her period. She had hers removed in about 6 months. 
Sex on the mirena doesn’t feel any different, for me anyway. You don’t even know it’s there. 
I imagine that you will probably get the Kylena since you’ve never been pregnant. It’s the exact same as the mirena, just smaller.

I just for my copper iud back in. The first time I honestly cried(2018), this time it just hurt like a period cramp (diff dr)(2020). But I still got sick right after and weak where it took me about 30-50 minutes before I could even move from the table. But it effects everyone different for sure. Have midol with you to take after. It was my life saver but I was taking it ever two hours and taking other pain meds when midol hit the max amount. The first day sucked but now I’m fine, I haven’t had sex yet so idk about that kinda hoping to find out tonight. 😁😆

I have the Skyla IUD. When I went in for my appt they had me sign a paper basically stating they explained all side effects and the procedure to me. Personally the pain was pretty bad, mainly when she was measuring my uterus. I cried and had to make her stop. The actual insertion of the idea didn’t really hurt to me.  
I cramped terribly for the rest of the day. I’ve currently been bleeding and cramping on and off for a little over a month now. I had sex a week after only because I’m extra cautious but I believe she said I could the same day it was inserted.

It’s a little painful when being inserted but only takes a few seconds. Afterwards I cramped for a few hours. Had sex three days after getting it inserted. I had it for two years and it was awesome. No bad side effects and stopped my period. I just got it out to start to conceive soon.

I had skyla worst pain in my life i was a virgin at the time. I got it during the week and had sex that weekend my doctor said it’s effective right away. The periods were terrible bloating cramps heavy lasting over two weeks so i got it taken out after three months. I’m now on the pill. Hope it works for you.

I had my Kyleena iud inserted the second time I went to the gynecologist EVER! 
I was terrified and asked a million questions before it was inserted. The gynecologist didn’t lie and she said it will hurt since I had such a small cervix. She told me everything up front. 
One thing I’ll say though is she told me to take ibuprofen 1 hour before to help with cramping. I took 3 😂. It definitely helped for the first 5 hours. After that it was like a really, really bad cramp day. 
The insertion itself was uncomfortable but since she didn’t measure my cervix with the thing they use it was quicker. It hurt when the device opens on insertion and feels like a terrible cramp. 
When the doctor told me I could sit up, my sight started getting blurry and I started getting lightheaded. I almost fainted!! 
She let me know that the body is reacting to the foreign device in the body. I had to my there for like 5 minutes before I could get up. 
The rest of 3 days I felt horrible cramps, I felt sore and I would felt like I could feel the string. I don’t know if that was real but I felt really uncomfortable and barely wanted to move. 
Not to mention I had my period on and off after the week of insertion for about 2-3 months. Get daily pads just in case!!
I took about a month before I felt comfortable to have sex with my husband. 
In my 2 month check up I let her know that my husband stated that he did feel the string and she let me know the the string probably hasn’t curved along with my cervix so it would be possible. She cut it anyway. 
I am really prone to cystic acne which made it worse for the first 6 months. I still have trouble every now and then when I’m about to get my period. Oh!! And my period never left. Still regular, maybe off by 3days early/late. 
Last thing!! My period became less heavy although I still get it for a whole week. Sometimes I still get spotting from time to time when I’m not on my period. 
Also one thing I got was TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE CRAMPS!! I’ve never been through childbirth but my cramps feel like it would be the start of contractions. I have to breath like you see in the movies when a woman giving birth. Yeah it’s that bad. One night I couldn’t sleep through the night because of them. Now I only get them a couple of days before I get my period. 
With sex now it doesn’t bother me at all, I personally think it lowered my sex drive at first now it’s more normal than before. 
Every person is different though so just take everything in consideration.
