Washing after bed wetting-help!

So my son is two and in diapers. This morning he woke up and took his diaper off and then peed in bed. I washed the blanket and sheets and spot cleaned the mattress. The mattress smelt fine before I remade the bed. But after being washed it still smells quite strongly of urine. I wonder if it’s because I use unscented detergent? Idk normally everything seems to come out pretty clean. But it’s like I didn’t even wash it 😳 is it my washer or is it normal for the smell of urine to be hard to get out? Seriously asking because if my washer is this terrible I am ordering a new one cause that’s just gross.
