I Don’t Get Pregnant (poem)

To every hopeful woman out there,

Who wishes to be a mother.

I understand your pain each month,

A pain felt like no other.

I too know what it feels like,

To wonder all month long,

Then cry at every negative

And question what went wrong.

I don’t get pregnant when I chart,

Or track ovulation with an app.

I don’t get pregnant when I temp,

And hope feels like a trap.

I don’t get pregnant using opks,

Or when we time it just right,

I don’t get pregnant when I’m late,

No matter how much I pray at night.

I don’t get pregnant month after month,

No matter how much time goes by.

I don’t get pregnant when I let go,

And relax and don’t even try.

I don’t get pregnant though others

My whole life have said it’s easy

I don’t get pregnant with every symptom,

Sore breasts, cramps, even queasy.

I don’t get pregnant when I do

Everything I can think of,

But one thing that I always have

Is the power and feeling of love.

Love for my sweet husband

Who has more hope than me maybe

That someday we will share this love

With a precious little baby.
