Breastfeeding past 1 year old - any words of wisdom?
So my baby girl had her first birthday this week and we’re still BF.
She’s my first and I always thought I’d stop at 6 months when I went back to work, but neither of us were ready to stop and since I’ve only gone back 3 days a week I carried on. The annoyance of pumping at work was more than made up for the re-connection we got at the end of the day when I’d get her home and nurse her before bed or if she needed it at night. I have no regrets and I’ve loved it.
Now we’ve hit another milestone and passed a year and I find my daughter still likes to nurse and I’m happy to do it. I basically do don’t offer and don’t deny and she’s dropped to only 2 feeds a day (morning and bedtime) with an occasional 3pm or middle of the night if she demands it. I see no need to stop but I see so little advice and support for extended nursing.
I’d love to hear from other mothers that nurse toddlers. Do you feel a little bit judged? How do you manage that? Do your families support you?
Thanks ladies!!! Xxx
