Were you forced to labor and deliver in a mask? If so how did you manage?

Got a call from L&D yesterday evening to see if I had questions about my scheduled induction Monday night. Was informed we would be in masks our entire stay. 
I have asthma and struggle to breathe with them on and they said there is no alternative. 
How on earth do I have my natural hypnobirth and relax with a freaking mask on?

I had a mask during labour but i wasn’t forced. Trust me, i removed it myself and at one point in delivery i needed oxygen so I couldn’t have it on.

The truth is if you can't relax you can't. I'm gonna be the same way. They're gonna have to deal with me bitching and swearing and all that fun stuff. They told me I needed a mask. I'm likely gonna tell them where to go because at the end of the day if you don't know how to properly use masks safely to avoid cross contamination the mask is useless because you've touched your face and touched the mask and readjusted it and move it and and and.... So to me this is silly unless you are symptomatic. Speaking as a medical professional, everyday people using masks don't use them properly and they are completely ineffectual so it may be causing more harm that good all around. If the staff is masked and mom is provided a place to wash her hands or sanitize then I don't see why mama needs to be masked.

We were told we had to wear them the whole time. I took mine off or at least took it off my nose as long as there wasn’t staff in the room. And at one point when I was pushing and baby was crowning I jerked it off my face and threw it across the room lol. I don’t think they really expect people to labor & deliver with one on the whole time.

I had to have mine on the entire time a nurse was in room and while pushing and it wasn’t that bad. I took it off when they put my daughter on my chest because I couldn’t see her under the mask and nobody said anything to me about it

I had to. It wasn’t the worst thing ever, and I have had four deliveries. It was okay, if I needed a break, I would run to the bathroom and take it off for a bit. I couldn’t keep it on during pushing though. That was too much. And no one said anything.

They made me wear a mask however at one point I felt like I couldn't breathe and I ripped it off. No one said anything and it stayed off the rest of the hospital stay except for 1 nurse who was running tests on my LO on my chest who asked me to wear one just while she did the tests
