Little help needed please

So um I recently turned 19 and I haven’t really had any sexual experience whatsoever. Not cause of anything major really just because I’m waiting for the right person to come along 🤗. So recently I tried putting on a tampon and It just wouldn’t go in. After my period i tried putting my finger down there to see what the problem could be and my finger couldn’t really go in. Like my index finger can only get in a tiny bit and then I start to feel something like fleshy or so. I’m sooo confused as to what this could be and I’m kinda worried that I won’t be able to have sex or be fingered or just wear a tampon. Anyone know what this could be or help to let me know if I’m doing something wrong?

Also, my family is very conservative so I don’t want to tell anyone.
