Should we say something now?

We have been ttc for 2 years and for the last 6 months have been doing iui. We recently discovered we are pregnant. It is still early, my missed period will be Saturday. We did 4 at home tests with positive results on Saturday and Sunday. Then on Monday we got a blood test which also was positive. The doctor prescribed progesterone to help baby secure. We are so excited because we have been trying for so long. Not everyone in family is aware we have been trying for so long. So here is the question: We committed going to a family trip to Ireland in July and well now that's our due date. Do we tell the family now or wait a few weeks to be sure the pregnancy took?

In your case I would probably tell them now. Maybe explain that you were trying so long you didn't think you'd have to back out. I would take that info with a grain of salt, though, because I'm not telling our families for a while. On both sides they've been jerks about our ttc journey and we're going to keep our happy news to ourselves for a bit and enjoy it.

I wouldn't even let the trip be a factor in telling them honestly, you still have plenty of time to book a trip Ireland but also wait a bit until you are comfortable enough to tell them. This is my second, I was made to tell my co workers that I was pregnant very early on with my first and it put that much more stress me and worrying about a mc. This time we are waiting until the 2nd trimester. So do what feels right, but on your own timeline, no one else's.
