How much would/did you spend on your child’s 1st birthday celebrations (excluding gifts)?

Not including presents but everything else - venue hire, decorations, food etc.

My husband and I are probably in the minority, but we didn’t have a “party” for my boy. We went to dinner with my family and went back home and ate cake that I made, and he had his own little cake. Then we opened the presents everyone bought him. If this is important to you then go for it, I personally don’t see the value in spending a lot of money at this stage because they won’t remember a single bit of it and you can still make it special without having to rent a venue or have a lot of decorations. But if that’s what will make you happy then go for it, I would probably spend the minimum amount though.

We had a pizza party at my local restaurant. We had about 30 guests and we paid $320 including tip. We didn't have to pay extra to reserve their party room and we ordered off the menu for food. Mostly everyone had pizza and salad but a few guests had something different which we didn't mind

We had a bbq in our backyard. We didn’t do a lot of decor, theme was “Wild One”. We had some balloons, streamers & my sister has an Etsy shop so she made a bunch of banners & made the smash cake topper. My mom really wanted to make the smash cake & cupcakes. We only had immediate family & couple close friends of ours. I think with food, decor & presents we spent $130-140. We didn’t want to spend a lot because until they really know what’s happening the parties are basically for the parents. Once he can help plan & stuff like that obviously we will do more fun things!

Probably around $400-$500 with lots of food, drinks, a cake, and some decor. In our culture 1st birthdays are a big deal. It was a lot of fun having all our friends and family over.

We have a January baby so there won’t be much to do mid winter. I’m planning on just doing pictures with a few decorations ourselves, making cake(s) myself and dinner with family
