Help with postpartum anxiety

Sophia

I gave birth on March 12th to my rainbow baby. I was discharged and ended up back in the hospital 4 days later due to postpartum preeclampsia. Ever since I left the hospital (a month ago) I have had terrible anxiety. I literally get panic attacks multiple times a day and feel awful all day. My dr prescribed me lexapro but the first night I took it I ended up having a severe panic attack and I know the medicine didn't cause it but now my mind associates that feeling with the medicine so I stopped taking it. I have been at my mother's house for the last few days getting help with the baby. I ended up going back to the er on Easter. My symptoms had not let up at all. My heart was racing, felt like I couldn't catch my breath, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat. The er dr did a chest xray, ekg, and blood work and said all the tests came back just fine. He said it is hormone induced panic attacks. They gave me some medicine to help me sleep but it literally knocks me out. I go back home tomorrow and I'm already getting anxious about being home alone with the baby again. I do live with my fiance however he works about 12 hours a day so I'm home alone a lot. I know how to take care of the baby that's not my concern. My concern is my panic attacks getting bad again. Have any of you ladies experienced postpartum anxiety and what did you do to get past it? My dr seems to think that once my hormones level out that I should feel much better.
