Multiples?

Question

I’d like to do a one and done just saying. Has anyone had a multiple pregnancy using fertility treatments? If so, please share your experience! I understand the risks of a multiple pregnancy and am getting in shape for it and such. But just hoping for some insight on the treatments and your experience. Thank you 😊

If you’re referring to IVF then most doctors won’t transfer more than 1 embryo unless you’re high risk for your age, or you have a history of miscarriage or failed IVF in the past. 
With IUI you can have multiples if you happen to have more than one mature egg during the day of your iui, but usually they try to give you the lowest dose of hormones possible to avoid multiples since it can put your whole pregnancy at risk.

I have not personally, but have experience with fertility treatments! And honestly, it’s kind of the same- it either happens or it doesn’t. If you take something like Clomid or Femara with timed intercourse  then you could ovulate more than one egg so the chance is obviously greater. Many people do end up conceiving multiples that way!
Theres actually a greater risk with IUI if there are multiple eggs mature, since there’s no way of knowing how many may fertilize. Some doctors will even cancel a IUI for this reason. I usually had 2-3 mature follicles ready and went through several IUI’s, but none of them were successful for me. 
With IVF, MOST Drs will only transfer one embryo. UNLESS if the woman is closer to 40 or have several failed cycles, etc. With transferring one embryo, there’s always a chance it could split, but again there’s no way of knowing if that may happen.  I had one embryo transferred and had 1 baby:) I always thought it would be great to conceive twins right off the bat, but honestly now that I’ve had one, and had a scare during pregnancy, I would be scared to death having twins as there are so many more risks associated. But lots of people carry twins and have no issues at all!! Good luck:)
