Has anyone gotten pregnant with an IUD?

Like I’ve heard these stories, but my doctor reassured me that those cases likely occur when you have a doctor placing your IUD who doesn’t have the proper experience, or the doctor isn’t forthcoming about if it was an easy placement or not (because it can be not quite right or fall out). K but I’m asking because we were um...intimate on Easter...for the first time since I got my IUD, and in the back of my mind I’m like..:👀👀👀👀👀. I love a good conspiracy/surprise LOL. Tell me stories!

Welllll, I’m pretty sure you know my story! 🤣🤣🤣
Mine had been in 5 years when I got pregnant. It was the copper IUD (Paragard) that was safe to have in and prevent pregnancy for 10 years. I opted for this because It was hormone free AND we thought our family was complete. My ob-gyn checked it every Pap smear I had AND did an ultrasound the day he placed it to make sure it was in properly. 
He had checked it in August during a routine check up and by October I was pregnant! He couldn’t believe it himself. He’s been an ob-gyn for 15 years and has only seen 2 IUD failures. During my first ultrasound (the day I got a positive pregnancy test), he saw it had shifted slightly sideways and that’s likely how I became pregnant. However, I had ZERO symptoms that it had moved and I’m pretty in tune to my body in that way. We’ll never know if it randomly shifted on its own (which is rare) OR if I got pregnant and my body sensed the IUD was a foreign object that needed to be expelled. 🤷‍♀️
Because of its proximity to Sawyer when I was I was pregnant, he recommended removing it for the safety of both of us. I’m so thankful every single day that she hung in there after removal. God wanted us to have ONE more sweet baby. ❤️😊

A friend of a friend did - and got pregnant with twins! But I have heard the reason for the risk of falling pregnant is as your doctor described - the placement was incorrect or it moved. I should also mention my friend switched OBGYNs and her new doctor was shocked to find hers wasn’t placed right but she never got preg! When she got it replaced, they had a difficult time getting it placed right so it probably was like your doctor said, some women it’s just harder to get right.

I have not, but a good friend of mine did get pregnant with an IUD. And she already had 1 year old twins!

Oh yikes! I haven’t had issues like that yet. I was also told by my doctor (and researched) that the copper ones shouldn’t be used with people who have heavy periods or cramping because it can exacerbate it (or start of those symptoms in people who didn’t have that to begin with), so we went with the mirena instead. I had HORRIBLE pain and heavy bleeding with periods so the copper was a no from the start. Did you have the cysts with the copper one or from a hormonal one? 
Sorry you had that experience, that sounds so awful. ❤️

I've had 2 separate IUDs for a total of 6 years. Didnt have any issues there. But with my first 1 I started cysts on my ovaries. Then with the second the copper IUD I had horrible periods.  I would have to wake up several times in the middle of the night to change my ULTRA size tampon. Had it removed to get pregnant with Alli and now were waiting for hubs to get a vasectomy.
