Everything ran exactly the same before we we're married as it does now. We were a team who shared a household and a life together regardless of if we were married or not

I wouldn’t open one even if I was married. I’m not a fan of joint accounts. I say do what works for you.

I have in the past and I would again. My ex and I had a joint account that joint bills came out of. We actually still have it cuz we signed a 2 year contract on a phone plan a month before we broke up, so we’re still transferring money via that account. We both had our own checking and savings accounts as well

Hell no!  I believe even when you get married, you should have a side account also just in case (for us women).  It’s not just about having trust with your partner, it’s about your own security and protection, you never know what could happen in the future 🤷🏾‍♀️

We currently do not have any joint accounts. It has nothing to do with trust as I trust him with my childrens' lives so how could I not trust him with money?! However, we just have different thoughts on how things should be paid every month. We both pay every bill on time. I just pay credit cards off every month and he simply makes payments as he would rather see that extra money in his savings. Neither of us are wrong, just different. Plus. I've always wondered how you keep gifts a secret with a joint account? If it's near his birthday and he sees a large purchase from a particular store he's going to know where his gift came from.

Yup we opened a shared account when we hit the year mark of dating. We both put 200 dollars in every month. We had the shared almost three years now. We use the money for bill an even use it to save up for a rainy day fund.

no, bc community property is a pretty thin line as we both have high value assets that are important to our families. it doesn't mean we love each other any less or view each other unequally though.

Yes my bf and I arent married but we dont intend on getting married. Eventually the plan is that we will get a joint account to pay bills from but we will continue to have our own accounts for personal expenses.
