Well, that was a shocking birth!

This is my third baby, and I have never had the feeling I would give birth before the estimated due date. This time I did though, and what do you know, he was born on the 21st instead of the 26th! I’ll take it!

So I sat down on the toilet to pee before bed, around 1:30, and found myself unexpectedly having to poop. And poop. And poop. Told my husband it was enough poop for three people, lol. Im a strictly morning pooper, so that in itself was odd. Made me think....maybe this was it? I’d had no other signs, but was hopeful.

Yup, it was. Laid down in bed, and contractions slowly started. My adrenaline got going and I didnt sleep a wink. We were planning a home birth, so I started getting things set up around 5:00 when laying still was no longer a comfortable option. Woke my husband at 7:00 to help with a few things. The midwives were here by 9:00, and let me tell you, this was the first labor that really seemed to drag on for me, even though it was somehow the fastest. It felt like he was never going to come. Felt like things were stalling. So at around 11:30am I changed my position from hands and knees and squatted at the foot of the bed.

One contraction....two...three—and with that third contraction he was suddenly born!?!?!? Wait, what?! It was over?!?! I thought I had another half hour to go, at least!

It took a good minute for my body to process what happened. The kid basically shot out. My 1st came out all in one push too, but that was after actively pushing for an hour. Squatting position? 10/10 I’d recommend, lol. No tearing yet again either, just a small graze. Woot, woot.

Welcome to the world, Martin Harrison B.! 7lbs 3oz, 20 3/4 inches long.
