The benefits outweigh the risk if your baby needs a spinal tap. Even in adults they make sure to test everything before jumping to a tap, and when they do, it’s never blind and always ultrasound guided or fluoroscopy guided/ X-ray. It’s also time sensitive and if needed, the doctors will push for it to be done. It’s definitely not a routine procedure. Why do they want to do a spinal tap?
