When to tell my new employer about my pregnsncy

Hi moms,
Im 17 weeks 4 days. I am starting a new job in July and am wondering when I should tell my future employer about my pregnancy? I’ve signed the offer letter and have started the HR paperwork (background check, credit check, etc.), but don’t officially start till July. Any thoughts?

I'm in HR. You could call and talk to HR. Or you could show up first day and it will be obvious what's going on and you could talk to HR in person. If you are in the US it is true that most anywhere has a minimum amount of time you need to be working there in order to get any maternity leave benefits, and you won't be eligible for FMLA (I've been at companies before too small to have to grant FMLA anyway). It depends on the company, there is a chance they'd be willing to work with you depending on how much time you plan to take off.

I honestly would recond the acceptance letter. Your not going to get FMLA, your going to work there for maybe 2 months at most, and then not be able to take FMLA so your probobly going to quit and thats a really unprofessional thing to do to a company

I started working for the state when I was 7 months pregnant with my son. Once I received my official offer I told HR and they told my supervisor. Everyone I worked With was absolutely amazing about it! I had plenty of time to get settled before maternity leave and they even threw me a little shower ☺️
