What do you wish you knew before you started your ivf journey?

I feel like I don't know enough to protect myself from the ups and downs of this journey. Any tips are welcome!

I wish I knew how little people who are not experiencing it knew how to be support for me. I would have not said anything to most people in my life about what I’m going through and just dealt with it on my own; with ladies of this app, my husband and maybe one other person. So many people have upset me (not on purpose of course) but I’ve had some people be very insensitive and I’ve found myself very isolated and feeling like the elephant in every room especially those w friends that know my journey and have kids. It’s frustrating and so hurtful.

I wish I knew that IVF was not a guarantee, and now that I know that, I’m gonna be better prepared for the second time around.

I agree with the other comments - ive had to learn the hard way with getting excited about doing treatments and oversharing my infertility journey and then hearing the ignorant comments like "just relax it worked for me" or that we will be more fertile for the second kid or why not get a surrogate (when we have unexplained infertility so we just aren't there yet - i know people mean well but sometimes its hard).  We are starting IVF but just from my experience with fertility treatments so far - i try to stay cautiously optimistic, be forgiving to myself, and allow space to grieve - whatever that looks like. Failed cycles, when things don't go exactly according to plan or just the fact that we don't get to experience getting pregnant the same way- it can be hard. I put on a brave face and just keep running on this treadmill of treatments. It can be exhausting.

I think people should know what to expect in terms of the massive drop off from number of eggs collected to blastocysts.
