Prenatals while trying to conceive?

I was told by my brothers gf who is 3 months pregnant that taking prenatal vitamins won't help conceive because it gives your body to much nutrients. Don't know if that's true or not so here I am. Lol

It does not help you conceive, but it gives your body important vitamins that help prevent birth defects.

I've been trying for just over a year and took some prenatal vitamins but they messed up my period, so I stopped taking them 8 months ago. 2 months ago my iron was low so I started taking Feroglobin iron tablets which contains folic acid. And after taking them for a month I got a BFP. At the time I didn't even think it would help me but once I got my BFP I turely believe it's because of the folic acid. 
Prenatals vitamins help some people but for others it is a nightmare!
