How do I stop swaddling?

My baby is 18 weeks old he still doesn’t roll over and it’s time for me to stop swaddling. 2 days ago I tried putting him to sleep without the swaddle blanket and he couldn’t sleep, he cried and cried until I put him back with the swaddle blanket. He won’t sleep unless he’s swaddled. What do I do? Or how should I start? I’m a FTM.

We used the halo swaddle and when transitioning we would leave one arm h swaddled for about a week or two and then left both arms out while swaddling only his torso also did this for a couple weeks and then just put him in regular sleep sack

If he isnt rolling yet you can keep swaddleing him. But when you cant swaddle anymore its an adjustment period for a while until they get use to rolling and moving around

Have you tried any transition swaddles? We used this one for a bit.

Maybe instead of trying cold turkey start with one arm out instead. You don’t have to stop swaddling until they roll over so you have some time to transition. I’d just try swaddling while leaving one arm out and see what happens :)

Best advice you can give a FTM is to know that every baby moves at their own pace love. He’s not ready to give up swaddles for now, & that’s okay. I’m not sure if your concern is him not rolling over or if you were stating that he’s safe in his swaddles because he’s not rolling over yet, but if it’s the first one just give him plenty of tummy time using toys or something of his interest to encourage him to turn over. Eventually he’ll outgrow wanting to be swaddled (my son was still getting swaddles at 4 months, & eventually he decided he didn’t like being bundled up anymore) You can also test other comfort methods to help him sleep at night to see what works for him. Definitely Halo swaddles! You can swaddle with one arm out to help transition and then eventually keep both arms out. But, it still swaddles around the body to keep baby snuggly and safe. 💙

I swaddled until around 11 weeks. Now we use the sleeping bag, looks like this

It zips on the side and you can use up until 6 months. My son started rolling onto his side I noticed. And when I would swaddle him he would just break free out of it. So it wasn't really giving him comfort anymore.

My baby is. 3 weeks I swaddle him but he’ll try to roll over, but the only way he can go to sleep if he’s swaddled or has my shirt around him
