Is this how Narcissists work?

So let’s say guy meets girl and notices that she cares too much and tries to fix what’s broken because that’s how she was raised. Guy plays victim like “oh everything is going good, but I have no money for ....” Girl feels awkward but she feels the need to help. So she pays for something and feels better cause she helped, he is all loving because he got exactly what he wanted. But the second she declines to help again, she’s the awful person and how the request was so small And she’s now just like everyone else. Is this how Narcs work or is this just toxic in general?

A narc wont just jump in like that. They present you a totally false persona. A very charming and kind and loving persona. They don't ask for much, but they give a lot. This is how they hook you. Slowly. Very slowly. They shift once they know they've got you. They make you very dependent on them, even going as far as cutting friends and family out of your life, not allowing you to work because money could mean escaping them. Small comments here and there meant to wear you down. Subtle at first. Simple things like I dont like that shirt or I dont like that hairstyle. Evolving into downright degrading. You look like a slut when you wear that. Why cant you be more like "insert whatever option here" do you know how ridiculous you look right now? And then when you say hey wow that really hurts my feelings, they flip it into well do you know how horrible you make me look when you do these things? Have you thought about how I'd feel if you wore something like that? And then you go wow I'm a selfish ass, I didn't think about how you'd feel. And the cycle goes on and on. My ex husband was great at that game. Even to the point where he became physically abusive and in the end I'd feel like I was in the wrong and I deserved it. It took me years after our divorce to accept the fact that it was abuse and I didn't deserve it. And even now 8 yrs later I still question if I'm remembering things correctly or if I'm exaggerating and he really didn't mean it and was just playing.

Sounds like he just wants his lifestyle catered to. There's a lot more to narcissism than just getting upset when someone doesn't want to pay for something.

Don’t stay!!! Believe me I just went through a year of this, and had a baby with this person. Always paid for everything!!! Didn’t mind it at first, but it gets tiring after a while. This guy wants a sugar mama. Sounds to me like that’s the type you’re with right now. Next thing you know the relationship gets messy after a while, and not so nice things will happen. Mentally and possibly physically.

Not sure if a Narcissist. You would think a narcissist wouldn’t take help ($$) from anyone and would have to control the situation by paying even if not within his means.
