My Rapist is Applying a Job in my Workplace. What should I do?

Hi all,

I was raped when I was in college by my ex boyfriend. He took away my virginity without consent (I explicitly told him no, but he kept going), and forced himself during 5 years of my relationship with him. I was depressed and felt like something was wrong, but I cannot figure out what was it.

I live in a conservative society, where extra-marital sex is taboo. So I didn’t know that it was rape until after I broke up with him (it was 5 years) and learned the concept of consensual sex.

Currently I worked as a professor in a university, and recently I figure out that my ex is applying for a job as a faculty member in my university. I am concerned about his predatory behaviour, especially towards the female students. I often got a panic attack when I think about it.

What do you think about this? Am I overreacting?
