Ex boyfriend

so I broke up with my ex about 9 months ago, it just wasn’t working at the time. And he wasnt consistent enough. But now we’ve started talking again, and are tying to pursue a relationship agains, he wanted to know whether or not I slept with someone during that time. And I told him the truth, I just wanted to be honest. And now he’s upset with me. Am I wrong for telling him?
