When you first heard heartbeat?

Ok, I'm asking this in reference to my sister. She is 9 weeks I believe and had some bleeding with a little cramping today. It worried her so she went to the ER. They drew blood and did a pelvic exam. The blood work came back fine they said and her cervix is still closed. Then they did an ultrasound and she said the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat. They didn't try with a Doppler (not that I'm sure that would make a difference) but could 9 weeks still be too early to hear a heartbeat? Any help, suggestions or personal stories you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Update: so my mom went down to be there with her and my sister will be seeing an ob on Monday for another opinion. My sister texted me and said it feels and looks like she started her period this morning. We still unfortunately won't know anything until Monday when she goes to see the doctor but I'm trying to keep my hopes up for her. If any of you have happy thoughts to send her way, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Wow. Hi I am going threw the same exact thing. Last week I went to the restroom and saw blood kinda like a period bout time I got to the ER it stop. It was very light they said I was bout 6w5d they did a ultrasound and took lots of pictures. They been having me on bedrest until this Tuesday. They are running blood work and everything to see exactly what's going on. Cuz Friday i started  spotting very little and I went to see my dr. So I'm just sitting up here on bed rest until Tuesday. I pray everything works out for both her and me. Plz keep me updated if she found out something before me and I will do the same. Thanks

She might be earlier than 9 weeks I heard mine at 7 weeks but u should have been able to see it at 9 weeks

When I was 10 weeks I couldn't hear it but I could see it on the monitor

On an ultrasound the heartbeat will almost always be apparent by six weeks, unless the mother is obese. With my first pregnancy, we saw a heartbeat at six weeks, but after I started bleeding they did another at eight weeks and there was no heartbeat, and the baby had passed. The Doppler sometimes can't find a heartbeat until 12 weeks

I heard my baby's heartbeat with an ultrasound at 7 weeks. She should be able to hear and/or see a heartbeat at 9 weeks. Maybe she's not as far along as she thinks?

My midwife didn't find mine with Doppler at ten weeks. She did at twelve weeks, though.
